The origin of the word Freethought probably goes back to the days of the Caveman when someone stepped out and away from the way that everybody was perceiving Reality. This lone Individual thought differently and through many eons of time Freethought has become an accepted philosophy. In practice it means Free from any outside authotity in either religion or politics.
In the Philosophy of Freethought there are many different approaches, applications or branches of thought. But the underlying principle is Freedom. FREE TO BE...FREE TO THINK...FREE TO ACT as long as You do not interfere with the right of another to do the same.

onward, with pure Promethean fire, with the
torch of reason, with undaunted face, with
unresending step, until it now leads the world

Freethinking is one of the branches of FREETHOUGHT. A Freethinker is a person who likes to create new Realities that improves the Human condition and our perception of the Universe. Freethinking embraces the Individual with new ideas and ALL that the Individual can be when living in the context of Freedom.
A Freethinker is a person who does not accept or live by an outside Authority in either religion or politics. We are People who support and create new right ideas that expand or improve the Society and Civilization.
We are not combative people and we work behind the scenes because it is safer for us that way and in the long run we succeed.
WE have honored our fellow Freethinkers who have changed the world for the better in the Three Part Millennium Issue of Truth Seeker titled 1000 YEARS OF FREETHOUGHT, Volume 128, December 2001.

This day honors Thomas Paine and is on his birthday, January 29. This is a global holiday and is simply celebrated by giving and displaying a White Rose with Thorns. The simple beauty and purity, the fragility and yet not without the danger of drawing blood by a thorn prick, makes this an excellent icon for those Freethinkers who want to reflect on Freedom and promote the ideas of personal liberty as expressed by Paine in The Declaration of Independence,
This is a holiday that celebrates the concept of Freedom by honoring the man who declared our Independence by giving us Common Sense and The Declaration. We owe a great debt of gratitude to Thomas Paine.
